G36 Airsoft Replica Guns

During the 1950s right through to the 1970s the German armed forces, the Bundeswehr had been using the G3 rifle. This rifle was an offshoot of the assualt

rifles developed right at the end of World War II. The G3 itself was a great rifle and sold well around the world but it was getting on in its years. The G3 was at the end of it's service life and a replacement was badly needed. Germany needed a new gun that would fire the NATO standard 5.56 round.

Some prototypes were produced to try and fill this gap - the G11 and G41. But neither of these guns quite hit the mark even though both of them were very modern weapons when you compared them to the G3. Heckler and Koch then began development on the HK50 and after trials it was accepted by for production and use by the Bundeswehr with the designation of G36. More than 30,000 G36s were ordered and went into active service in 1997. Just over a year later the G36 was made the official weapon of the Spanish armed forces too.

The G36 is a very modern weapon with a body made from advanced polymers and steel inserts where needed. The gun is also designed to be very easy to maintain and even easier to strip down. There are no tools needed to field strip a G36 - just a series of pins that need to be removed. The G36 also takes care of lefties and righties - it has fire controls on both sides of the receiver so the weapon can be easily used by any soldier no matter what their preference for left or right handed weapons might be. The big advantage of using sythentic materials in the design is that you're not going to have to worry about rust and corrosion even if you're using it in wet, humid climates.

Here's the G36 in action:

The G36 is available in the following models:

G36E/V - this is the export version of the G36 used by Spain and Latvia.

G36K - this is the carbine (K stands for kurz which means "short") version of the G36 which has a shorter barrel.

G36C - this is the sub-carbine version of the G36. It has an even shorter barrel than the 36K and is usually called the G36 commando because of it's compact size.

G36A2 - this is the upgraded version of the G36 used by the Bundeswehr. One of the main features is a quick-release Zeiss red dot sight.

It's no surprise that such a powerful and modern weapon became so popular that a G36 airsoft gun appeared. Manufacturers like Tokyo Marui and Classic Army have produced a great range of G36 airsoft guns in both AEG and spring versions so there's one to suit every budget.
